Turning a Building Site into a Canvas: Winners Announced for the Artists of the Future Competition

Artists of the Future invited young people to create an artwork which captures Therme Manchester’s ethos: Be Well and Have Fun in Nature. The competition was launched on the occasion of Manchester Art Fair in November 2025 and commenced with schools and creative youth centres within Salford and Trafford in January 2026.

We were thrilled to receive over 600 incredible entries. The 22 winning artworks featured as part of this gallery were selected by local artists AKSE-P19 and Helena Worthington, and Therme representative Roksana Ciurysek-Gedir.

Winners have been selected from each of the following participating organisations:

  • Arts Let Loose CIC
  • Arbour Academy Secondary School
  • Barton Clough Primary School
  • Beech Street Community Primary School
  • Gorse Hill Studios
  • Holy Cross & All Saints RC Primary School
  • Lewis Street Primary School
  • Manchester Art Fair
  • St Gilbert’s Primary School
  • St Monica’s Primary School
  • Westwood Park Community Primary School

Their designs will now be reproduced at scale and installed across the site’s perimeter, creating a striking open-air exhibition that celebrates local talent while bringing colour, creativity and community spirit to the emerging Therme Manchester destination during construction.

The project demonstrates how regeneration can positively involve local communities, transforming a temporary construction boundary into something inspiring and inclusive. The winning designs will create a dynamic outdoor exhibition reflecting young people’s visions for wellbeing, nature, creativity and the future of Greater Manchester.
