Sustainability

A First in British Leisure

Environmental consciousness and sustainability are at the heart of Therme Group, we will not just mitigate impact but will actively create sustainable liveable environments. Due to our city-based location, Therme Manchester delivers an ecological and friendly staycation as part of a sustainable lifestyle.

Therme facilities are a model of sustainable development, leveraging renewable energy sources and integrating plants and trees into buildings on an unprecedented scale.

Therme Manchester is the UK’s first large-scale spa facility to be constructed according to the prestigious LEED Platinum certification, the most widely used green building rating system in the world. This rating has already been achieved by Therme Bucharest in 2016.

Tuned for a sustainable future

Deployment of cutting-edge technology ensures that impacts on the environment are minimised – every aspect of Therme’s resorts is tuned to respond to the importance of a sustainable future. Therme Manchester will develop a resilient energy system that ensures zero carbon emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change. Our resort will be powered by both air-source and ground-source heat pumps and photovoltaic systems to harness solar energy.

Therme Manchester will optimise water usage, explore and deploy eco-friendly technologies for water treatment, and develop sustainable methodologies that mitigate the ecological footprint. This will be achieved by a wastewater treatment programme for water reuse, strategies for reduced water consumption and recovery of grey water for non-potable use and irrigation.

Therme Group has begun developing a carbon management plan as part of the process for achieving PAS 2060, an internationally recognised certification for carbon neutrality.
